The hype has been building for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” for
months–and the initial reports indicate the eagerly-awaited
supernatural movie is putting up blockbuster box office numbers.
According to early estimates from Hollywood.com, Summit
Entertainment’s “New Moon,” which opened on Friday at 12:01 a.m.,
posted the largest opening-day box office gross on record, taking in
$72.7 million on its first day.
“New Moon” stars actress Kristen Stewart as a small-town girl caught in
a love triangle between a vampire, played by Robert Pattinson, and a
werewolf, played by Taylor Lautner. The movie is based on the
“Twilight” book series by author Stephenie Meyer.

Speakeasy was invited to a press screening of the film last night,
and let us assure you, the roar of the film’s werewolves (led by
17-year-old actor Taylor Lautner and his six pack) were nothing
compared to the screams of the young girls sitting around us.
Not that it will deter the fans, but what do critics think of the
continuing adventures of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who’s dumped by
her sparkly, undead vamp boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson) and finds
solace in daredevilry and her pal Jacob (Lautner)?
